The Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU), in collaboration with Kaizen-the Alumni Relations Committee, hosted an engaging session as part of its Institute Lecture Series, featuring the esteemed social reformer and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Shyam Sunder Paliwal. The lecture, centered on “Social Entrepreneurship and Eco-Feminism,” offered valuable insights into rural development, environmental sustainability, and community transformation.
The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Anup K. Singh, Director General of Nirma University, who highlighted that management transcends corporate boundaries. Drawing lessons from Dr. Paliwal’s journey, he underscored the effective utilization of resources and the significance of long-term strategic thinking.
In his keynote address, Dr. Paliwal encouraged educated youth to engage in agriculture and shared the inspiring story of Piplantri village (Rajasthan), where trees are planted for every girl child born-an initiative recognized worldwide for its social and ecological significance. He also reflected on his personal journey, from his participation in Kaun Banega Crorepati to receiving the Padma Shri Award, and discussed his influential work in natural farming, gender equality, and eco-sustainability.
The event concluded with Dr. Nityesh Bhatt, Director of IMNU, quoting poet Dushyant Kumar, which left the audience inspired to pursue meaningful social change. Coordinated by Kaizen, the session reaffirmed IMNU’s dedication to creating platforms that foster learning, reflection, and societal contribution.
