Samik Shome is a teacher and researcher in the field of Economics. He has more than 22 years of teaching, research and consultancy experience. He completed his PhD from University Calcutta and currently works as a Professor of Economics and Chairperson of the Doctoral Program. His research interests include rural development, public policy, labour economics and strategic development. He focuses on various governmental programs and its implementation at the grassroots level, as well as model building, specifically conceptual and strategic frameworks. He is at present serving as a member of the Common Review Mission of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and also member of the Expert Committee on Research Projects of Indian Council of Social Science Research under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Dr. Shome has also been associated with several government and community-based research and consultancy projects which includes Competition Commission of India (CCI), International Finance Corporation (IFC), ICSSR and Ministry of Commerce & Industries.
