Kaizen – The Alumni Relations Committee of the Institute of Management, Nirma University, under its Institute Lecture Series, hosted an insightful interaction with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, AC, Test Pilot, Indian Air Force (IAF), Astronaut with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Pilot for Axiom Mission 4.
The session commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a formal welcome to the distinguished guest. In conversation with Prof. Nitesh Bhatt, Dean, Institute of Management, Nirma University, he reflected on his journey from an aspiring aviator to becoming one of India’s astronauts. The discussion explored the inspiration behind his career, the rigorous selection and training process for Axiom Mission 4, the role of resilience and teamwork in demanding environments, and the importance of family in navigating both success and setbacks.
The interaction also offered fascinating insights into life aboard the International Space Station, scientific experiments conducted in microgravity, the challenges of international collaboration, and the evolving landscape of space exploration. An engaging question-and-answer session provided students with the opportunity to interact directly with the distinguished astronaut and gain deeper perspectives on his experiences.
The session concluded with a standing ovation from the audience. It offered the IMNU community a rare opportunity to engage with an inspiring individual whose journey underscored the values of perseverance, discipline, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
