Aesthetic pollution is basically the damage to the visual beauty of any place or property due to lack of care and damage which is knowingly or unknowingly done by civilians and the administration. It?s also called Visual Pollution. The Billboards, open storage of trash, telephone towers, electric wires, buildings and automobiles are forms of visual pollution. Any type of pollution generates negative externalities. The primary information collected through the pilot study and later the field visits at the places of pilgrimage in Gujarat, India suggests that the Aesthetic pollution is widely ignored and awareness towards the burden on society caused by negative externalities is missing. The Research aims to provide a conceptual framework to facilitate the policy makers to differentiate between the places of pilgrimage on the basis of the negative externalities generated by them, mainly for the purpose of decision making. The findings may also serve as an input for the temples, pilgrims, researchers, NGO?s and academicians engaged in the related field.
