Optimus’-The Operations Club

The Club facilitates knowledge sharing from the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management. Through guest lectures, live projects, quizzes, case studies, simulation games and certification programs the club brings the vitality of this domain onto a broad sharing platform at the institute. The scope of these activities combined with industry connect makes Optimus’- The Operations Club a broad sharing platform for Operations and Supply Chain management enthusiasts, professionals and students.

Major Events: Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Break the Code, LYNX 9.0, Karyaneeti.

Flagship Event:
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification: Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Programme is organized as part of the club activity for a duration of 4 days wherein the trainers from KPMG assist students in strengthening their profiles.

Optimus-the operations club of IMNU organized it’s second event Pratikrosh, which was consisted of two rounds wherein first was a strategic and sequential case-solving round, and second, a bidding round in which the finalists had to bid for the items necessary in the given situation. This event contributed in sharpening the skills of negotiation, teamwork, and strategic decision making.

Optimus—The Operations Club of IMNU organized Break the Code 7.0 on 5th and 6th of December,2020.

Round 1 “Sawaal Pe Sawaal” was the quiz round. Second round was “Buzz me” where participants need to use their communication skills and coordination skill and final round was “The sting” where team need to present their unique ideas to the judge.

The Institute of Management, Nirma University and Optimus-the operations club of IMNU in association with American Society for Quality (ASQ) Ahmedabad- Local Members Community conducted the 10th Annual International Conference on 27th & 28th of November (Friday & Saturday) from 5 PM to 8 PM on WEBEX hosted by NIRMA University, Ahmedabad. The theme of the conference was ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT. The event was attended by Dr. Joerg Dehmer (Chief Guest), Mr. Suresh Lulla (Guest of Honour), Prof. Prem Vrat (Keynote Speaker), Mr. Anindya Sarangi, Prof. Anup K Singh, Mr. Kaushal Mehta & Dr. Rajesh K. Jain, Mr. Jagdish Shukla, Dr. Sanjay K. Jain, Mr. Brijesh Shah, Mr. Chetan Kothari, Mr. Abhishek Dixit, Mr. Sachin Garg, Dr. Rajesh K. Jain & Mr. CV Raman (Valedictory Chief Guest)

The Operations Club at IMNU conducted an Event named “OP-STRAT”. This event was based on the analysis of the supply chains of the reputed and established E-Commerce firms. The event tried to judge the understanding of the participants about the supply chain elements and if they can identify certain flaws and suggest corrective measures. The event was a blend of the excitement of the quiz and the testing grounds for the concepts that the students have gained.

The event had two rounds. The first round, which was elimination round was an online quiz held on 16th February 2018. A total of 74 teams (each team comprised of 2/3 participants) had registered for the event and around 45 teams were able to submit their answers within the designated time duration. The top 7 teams, based on their score and timestamp of submission were selected for second round.

For the second round, which was held on 21st February, each team was given an option to select any one of the below four companies:

  1. Amazon Prime Air
  2. IKEA
  3. Blue Nile
  4. Healthkart

The teams had to present an analysis of the supply chain of their selected company, and suggest ways of improving the same. The teams were also asked to submit a write-up for the same. Our Judges for this round were Dr. Praneti Shah, Asst. Professor, IMNU and Dr. Diljeetkaur Makhija, Asst. Professor, IMNU. The participants were assessed on various parameters by the Judges.

Below mentioned teams came out as winners of the event:

1st Place – Team 5-14-15(Dylan Quadros, Gopal Bhansal, Ankush Jain)

2nd Place – Team Executors ( Sarthak Jain, Satyam Singh, Yash Daruka)

3rd Place – Team Blue Nile ( Harsha Chaturvedi, Sushmit Sharma)

Quiz Round (Round One): Team Ark (Ashutosh Kumkar, Rohan Deshmukh, Kartikey Tiwari).

Optimus – The Operations Club conducted its first event for the academic year 2018-19 – Break the Code 5.0 on 4thAugust, 2018. The event got a total of 75 team entries consisting of 3 participants each team and out of which 33 teams took part in the event. The event consisted of 3 rounds. It was a fun based event with an idea to give break to the students from daily assignments and studies. The final round was ‘TREASURE HUNT’ which consisted of five teams including the pre-event qualifiers. First team who found the last clue were declared as a winner and followed by first runner up and second runner up.

 

The Ms Excel workshop was organized under club Optimus activity. The work shop was organized for all the students of first year i.e MBA FT 2018-19 batch. The need of the MS Excel workshop was often mentioned by recruiters and alums. Excel efficiency is needed as basic analytical tool. Corp-orates and academics both demand it and students with better hand in Ms Excel often have the edge. The work shop was conducted in two days 11th and 12th August 2018. The exam was conducted for all the students and all who pass it with required percentage were given a certificate from NIIT.

Club Optimus – Operations club of IMNU organized the Green Belt Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification program for the batch of 2018-2020. This certification was done in association with KPMG. KPMG Green belt Lean Six Sigma certification is one of the most sought after certifications. The certification was conducted with the aim to enhance the student’s career and help them learn the concept of quality which is pertinent across industries. The program saw an overwhelming participation of 90 students from the four functional domains like Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource & Operations. The 32-hour course was conducted in a time span of 4 days from 10 to 13 July. The LSS certification program provided an opportunity for the students to learn how leaning is done technically in various sectors to reduce waste and maximize value. This certification is carried out every year at IMNU in reference to strong demand from the industries.

Karyaneeti – Game of strategy is the flagship event of Club OPTIMUS.

The event was designed in three verticals which tests the theoretical as well as practical skills of students in Operations & Supply chain domain in a group of 3 members.

ROUND 1: ONLINE QUIZ – 15 Feb, 2019

The first round was an online quiz, to measure the technical knowledge of the domain.

ROUND 2: OPS SIMULATION – 22 Feb, 2019

Second round was a Simulation based round, designed to test the practical skill in the domain.

ROUND 3: OPS STRAT – 23 Feb, 2019

The Third was a Case study round, where the teams had to come out with Industry 4.0, technology implementation procedure adopted by the Industry assigned to them.

The event was carried out in 3 days.
