The Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU), in collaboration with Kaizen-the Alumni Relations Committee, hosted an enriching session under its Institute Lecture Series featuring Dr. Chirantan Chatterjee, Professor of Health Economics and Policy at the University of Sussex.
Titled “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education and Research,” the session explored how AI is transforming academia, public policy, and knowledge creation. Dr. Chatterjee highlighted the urgent need for academic institutions to adopt AI and quickly adjust their systems and curriculum to meet the evolving demands of an AI driven world.
He noted that automation now goes beyond operational tasks and is reshaping creative and cognitive roles. He urged interdisciplinary learning along with application-based teaching methods. A key highlight was his discussion on the Triple Helix Model, which promotes collaboration among academia, industry, and government. He also proposed a National AI Stack, a framework to help India compete globally through high-quality data, policy integration, and research infrastructure.
The session wrapped up with an engaging Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions about AI’s role in mental health, policymaking, and the future of academia in India. Dr.Chatterjee encouraged students to stay curious, hands-on, and socially aware as they prepare for a future integrated with AI.
The event reinforced IMNU’s vision to promote future-focused academic engagement and to develop leaders ready to manage technological change.
