KODECET Project

KODECET Project

The KODECET project is a groundbreaking initiative shaping the future of education. Funded by the ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE program, we’re a consortium of leading universities from Finland, Austria, India, and Thailand. Our mission is to integrate Sustainable and Circular Economy (SACE) principles into higher education curricula across Asia and Europe.

The core of our strategy revolves around the establishment of four Digi-SUSTEACH centers at partner universities in India and Thailand. These centers function as pivotal hubs for SACE (Sustainability, Circular Economy, and Education) education, providing open-source courses and a vast array of learning materials that are accessible to a global audience. By drawing on the advanced expertise of European universities, we aim to enhance the capacity of institutions in Asia. This initiative not only strengthens their roles in education and industry but also contributes to a global shift towards a circular economy.

KODECET specifically addresses the shortage of SACE expertise in Asian economies. As industries continue to grow in countries like India and Thailand, there is an increasing demand for skilled workers capable of facilitating the transition to circular economic models and achieving both national and global sustainability objectives. This initiative aligns with the “China plus one” strategy adopted by foreign businesses, which identifies India and Thailand as crucial regions for industrial development. By leveraging the extensive SACE knowledge that has been cultivated in European nations such as Finland, the Netherlands, and Austria since 2015, KODECET promotes knowledge exchange and capacity building in Asia, ultimately benefiting both continents:

The Digi-SUSTEACH Centre at Nirma University has been established under the European Union (EU) funded Knowledge Development for Circular Economy Transition (KODECET) project. Located within the Institute of Management, the Centre serves as a hub for digital education, research, and capacity building in the domain of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development.

The objectives for the Digi-SUSTEACH Center are as follows:

• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to integrate Circular Economy principles across education, research, and industry engagement.
• Build capacity of faculty, students, and early-stage professionals to apply Circular Economy practices.
• Enhance access to high-quality Circular Economy education using digital platforms and open-source resources.

To be a centre of excellence for Digital Sustainability and Circular Economy Education in the state of Gujarat, Western India, fostering knowledge creation, dissemination, and application to empower future-ready professionals.

To promote digital innovation and interdisciplinary learning in sustainability and the circular economy by integrating research, pedagogy, and community engagement.
