The Tenth edition of Aarohan 2024 – The annual BBA conclave was organised by Adityavat – BBA Co- Curricular Committee on the 5th and 6th of December. The theme of Aarohan 2024 – the annual BBA conclave, was ‘ABHYAM -Triumphing Fear and Celebrating Courage’.
Mr. Arpan Yagnik was invited as the chief guest for the inaugural session along with Dr Debasis Malik- Director General, Institute of Management, Nirma University, Dr Diljeetkaur Makhija- BBA Program Chairperson and Dr Bhoomi Mehta- Assistant Professor and faculty coordinator of Adityavat.
Dr Debasis Malik gave a welcome speech to commence the Conclave. It was then followed by Dr Diljeetkaur Makhija, the BBA chairperson presenting the theme for Aarohan 2024 and she then went into further detail about its importance.
Mr. Lucky Bisht – a successful screenwriter, author and filmmaker, who was also named India’s best NSG commando in 2009, took the event forward by chairing the inaugural session and talked about his time as an Indian spy and how it shaped his personality. He emphasized on prioritising serving the nation and told the students how his life went from being a distinguished army personnel member to a successful author and filmmaker. As he rightly said, “clarity of vision is the compass that guides us.”
Mr. Siddharth Rajhans, Harvard alumnus and Multilateral Diplomacy Expert at UNITAR, enlightened the students on the evolution of technology and India’s rise as a global hub for innovation, technology and growth. He emphasised the importance of perseverance and forward thinking. He stated that “Sticking to your vision is key to innovation”.
Ms. Aditi Gupta felt right at home while talking to the young and inquisitive IMNU students during the third session of day one. She described how the concept of menstruation had long been a taboo in India and gave examples of her own life to tell us what motivated her to create Menstrupedia. She laid emphasis on the fact that both boys and girls should be aware about periods and how it would lead to a more inclusive and informed society.
Ms. Ami Ganatra, IIM Ahmedabad alumni, management professional and mythological author, conducted an interactive session by linking stories of mythology with the theme “Abhayam”. She emphasised that courage is about knowing when to act and when to let go, stating “Courage is not in the big and bold actions, but rather in the truth we live for”.
Award-winning author and journalist, Ms. Rachna Bisht Rawat, took the fifth and final session of day one of Aarohan 2024. Famously known for books like ‘Bipin: The Man Behind the Uniform’, ‘The Brave’ and ‘Kargil’, Ms. Rachna captivated the audience with real-life stories and anecdotes from the Kargil War in 1999. She talked about the bravery and courage shown by various Indian Army soldiers throughout history. By showing various pictures of the soldiers and their families, Ms. Rachna made her session highly interesting and one to remember. All her stories revolved around a very profound theme: “In Kargil’s heights, courage conquered all”.
The second day of the two-day event started with a session by Ms. Niyati Mehta, IMNU alumni and co- founder of Svasti, who spoke about her journey from her entry into corporate to starting Svasti. She talked about the challenges she faced and then overcoming them and understanding how they have led her to her life now. “Where you start does not matter, but the progress you make does” she added.
Mr. Karan Sabde – who leads marketing, media and partnerships at Warner Bros. Entertainment in India, took the second session of the day. With over 17 years of experience in the media and film industry, Mr. Sabde discussed the changing methods of media consumption over the years. He offered valuable insights on how to overcome various marketing challenges through strategic perception shifts and adapting to market dynamics from an early stage. Mr. Sabde advised, “students should understand the future trends and grab the opportunities in this dynamic world”.
Mr. Pawas Jain, co-founder of The Tech Portal and former CEO of TBC Consulting, shared about the fear of setbacks and failures. He stated that all of us face setbacks, everyone from a student to the CEO of a MNC, it is the courage to embrace these challenges and to rise above them that makes us successful.
He motivated the students by encouraging them to “Embrace the plot twists”.
As the Valedictory speaker of the 10th BBA conclave, Ms. Bhagyashree Bhansali, who is a Forbes 30 under 30 Asia honouree and founded The Disposal Company, underscored the central theme of Aarohan – Abhayam – and spoke about overcoming fear by using it as a powerful motivator. She
emphasised on taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone goes a long way in making a person resilient. She interacted with various students and gave intriguing insights about courage being the driving force behind success.
