The Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU), through its Alumni Relations Committee Kaizen, organized an engaging session under the Institute Lecture Series featuring Dr. Sameer Dani, Chief Interventional Cardiologist at Apollo CVHF. The lecture, titled “Don’t Miss a Beat – Heart Health Matters”, shed light on lifestyle diseases, cardiac risks, and the rising burden of obesity in India.
Dr. Dani emphasized that heart health is built over time through consistent lifestyle practices. He spoke about the alarming rise of “diabesity” in India, the phenomenon of thin-fat syndrome, and the risks associated with abdominal obesity. Highlighting prevention as the most effective medicine, he encouraged healthier choices in diet, exercise, and emotional well-being while stressing the importance of early screening to detect hidden risks.
He also discussed how the future of healthcare will be shaped by artificial intelligence and advanced diagnostic tools, which will significantly improve preventive cardiology and early interventions.
The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students asked questions related to lifestyle management, early warning signs, and the role of emotional intelligence in managing stress. Dr. Dani urged students to adopt small yet consistent steps toward a healthier lifestyle, reminding them that the responsibility for better heart health ultimately lies with individuals themselves.
The session reflected IMNU’s commitment to fostering awareness on pressing societal health challenges and preparing students to lead responsibly with knowledge and care.
